LIGHTING SYSTEM FOR VERTICAL GARDENS
One of the most decisive elements in the conservation and good development of an indoor vertical garden is lighting. In spaces with little or no natural light, it is essential to incorporate an auxiliary lighting system that guarantees adequate levels of photosynthetic radiation, adapted to the type of vegetation used.
In Terapia Urbana we are specialists in the design and supply of photosynthetic lighting systems adapted to vertical gardens. Our approach is based on research developed at the University of Seville, which has allowed us to identify the optimal PPFD (photosynthetic photon flux density) values for each type of plant.

Lighting in a vertical garden
Plants need four essential factors for their development: water, nutrients, air and light. In indoor vertical gardens, natural light is not sufficient or simply not present, requiring an artificial light source capable of stimulating photosynthesis efficiently.
Light quality, intensity and photoperiod are determining parameters that directly influence plant development. For this reason, our systems not only provide light, but do so at the appropriate wavelength and spectral distribution, also regulating the exposure time and intensity depending on the species and its location in the garden.
How do we measure auxiliary lighting?
Unlike other sectors where measures such as lumens or lux are used, in vertical gardening we work with specific units such as PPFD (Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density). This metric allows us to quantify how much useful light for photosynthesis reaches each point of the garden.
Thanks to our analysis systems, we can accurately determine the number, type and location of the floodlights needed to ensure an even distribution of the PPFD, which helps us not only to ensure plant growth, but also to optimize the landscape design of the vertical garden.
Select the most suitable auxiliary lighting type
The projectors we use allow us to control the light spectrum, color, intensity and distribution of the light, which facilitates its adaptation to the different growth stages of the plant. Our special lamps, developed and tested in collaboration with the University of Seville, have been successfully installed in multiple projects in Europe, obtaining optimal results in plant conservation.
