What is a living wall?
A living wall is a system that allows plants to grow on vertical or sloping surfaces, providing them with the minimum requirements for good plant performance: water, aeration, and support. To maintain performance, the systems will be modular and adaptable to each project.
At Terapia Urbana, we develop projects by adapting the modulation and irrigation and control systems to integrate the solution perfectly into the building envelope. We carry out a needs assessment and then develop the construction and landscaping solution in detail.
Applications of vertical gardens
Outdoor vertical gardens improve air quality in cities by fixing NOx, CO, PM 2.5-5, increasing biodiversity and regulating the temperature of building envelopes, thereby reducing the heat island effect in cities… making them important tools for sustainable projects in urban environments.
Indoor vertical gardens fix volatile organic compounds (VOCs), especially Fytotextile, a system backed by scientific papers that date the VOC fixation capacity thanks to the aeration of the plant’s root system. It also improves indoor relative humidity, combating sick building syndrome.
The patented Fytotextile® system ensures optimal plant development through root aeration, uniform irrigation, effective substrate and prefabricated modules with consistent technical performance.
Modular, compact and quick-to-install system, specially designed for small-scale indoor spaces, with no need for water supply or drainage (only electrical power supply).
System of self-supporting plant screens, ideal for dividing spaces, providing privacy or creating temporary green environments inside offices or commercial spaces.
Adequate lighting is essential for proper plant growth, especially indoors. We have LED lighting systems specially designed for vertical gardens, which provide the energy necessary for the proper development of the selected species, respecting colour reproduction so that people can enjoy the real colours of the garden.
